Energy Market Reform Bulletin No. 30 - Demand Response Mechanism (DRM) Cost Benefit Analysis - Presentation of Results

Publication date: Friday, 17th October 2014.

The Demand Response Mechanism (DRM) was a recommendation of the Australian Energy Market Commission in the 2012 Power of Choice review. At the 13 December 2013 meeting of the Standing Council on Energy and Resources (the COAG Energy Council's predecessor), Ministers noted the change in market circumstances since the completion of that review and requested that officials undertake further work on the DRM, including a cost benefit study, and report back.

In May 2014 officials contracted Oakley Greenwood to undertake further analysis of the DRM including market modelling. On 25 August 2014 a consultation paper on the approach and assumptions was published for stakeholder consultation.

Released on 17 October 2014, Energy Market Reform Bulletin No. 30 invited stakeholders to attend a presentation held on in Melbourne 30 October 2014 to discuss Oakley Greenwood's work.
