Post 2025 Market Design Options – Consultation
Publication date: Friday, 30th April 2021.
The Energy Security Board (ESB) today released a shortlist of options for the redesign of the National Electricity Market (NEM)
The options address the influx of renewables, and retirement of coal generation in some jurisdictions, which are pushing the existing energy system to its technical limits.
The work is in response to a request from energy ministers in March 2019.
A final round of consultation will happen over the next few months prior to the ESB providing advice to the Energy National Cabinet Reform Committee by mid-2021.
Submissions can be sent to email@example.com
The consultation period will close on 9 June 2021.
Submissions will be published on the Energy Ministers’ website, as will the names of stakeholders who made submissions. If you would prefer your submission to remain confidential, please advise in the covering email that the submission is to be treated as confidential.
Stakeholders are invited to provide comments in response to the Post 2025 Market Design Options paper by 9 June 2021. The ESB intends to hold two public information sessions on the options paper on Tues, 4 May 2021 at 11am-12noon, and Fri, 7 May 2021 at 1.30-2.30pm AEST. Both sessions will cover the same material so there is no need to attend both. People wishing to attend either session need to register and this can be done through the AEMC web site.
